Artist initiative about the rural as space for and of cultural production

The collective aims of myvillages.org are informed by the contextual nature of our individual practices and the autobiographical fact that the founding artists all come from small villages.

Myvillages.com is founded by Kathrin Bohm (DE/ UK), Wapke Feenstra (NL) and Antje Schiffers (DE). They now live respectively in London, Rotterdam and Berlin. Their participatory art practice presents as they call it 'an utopian approach to community building'. Their work is based on personal experiences with small communities and the close relationships people have in villages.

They run several projects like International Village Shop and use methods like Rural Background Drawing - what does a farm look like in your memory?.

As artists they learn from going in and out the rural and switching between artistic and non-artistic contexts.
