Makers Lab

Workplace for media and crafts

At the Makers Lab, a workplace where media and crafts meet, people from the neighbourhood and organisations work together on projects with designers and craftsmen. The results are presented to a wide audience, in order to inspire new generation makers and to show what co-creation can yield.

Open Makers Lab
Would you like to create something yourself? Every Friday from 10am till 5pm, you are welcome to join us at the Makers Lab to work on your own projects. A 3D printer, sewing machine, several tools and work spaces are available.

Connections with the neighbourhood
Initiatives for projects can originate from local residents or entrepreneurs as well as from organizations, designers or other culture makers. However, projects always have to have a connection with the neighbourhood, either by participation of local craftsmen (be it trainees or not) and / or by application of the developed local concepts and products to the neighbourhood.
The foundation of the workspace was laid with programmes such as Mooi Wildeman (‘We make Wildeman – the name of the neighbourhood – beautiful’). We meet people who want to work or be educated at the Makers Lab and we discover which projects we can actually launch.

Costs
The design workshops and use of the Makers Lab are free of charge during block 1. However, we do kindly ask you to register with Mira and to be present and participate on a weekly basis.
